Introduction

On July 4, 1975, the Wicks family met at the home of the late Ellus E. Wicks, Sr. and the late Lessie Ervin Wicks to celebrate its first family reunion. The primary reasons for the reunion and community gathering, in addition to the reuniting with our family, was to put together our family tree and trace our history/past. This was done by putting together bits and pieces of information which was passed on to the oldest surviving members of the family such as the late Elzena Wicks Phillips, Aaron Wicks, Ezell Wicks, and others who then passed it on to us.

A race without knowledge of its history is like a tree without roots!
